My name is Martin Jansen, I'm currently a a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Language Studies at Radboud Univeristy where I work on the SENTENCES project. In this project we study the relationship between misinformation and social media discussions about cancer screening programs and the public perception related to screening programs.
During my studies I developed a particular interest in consumer behaviour, innovations and the continuous interactions between senders (or organisations) and receivers (or users/customers). This led me to search for opportunities to advance my understanding of these topics, which I found in the form of a PhD position at the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany at the chair for Social Psychology: Media and Communication led by Prof. Dr. Nicole Krämer.
In my dissertation work I investigated the effects of Political Microtargeting on social networks. I specifically looked at how we can use disclosures as a means to increase transparency in order to inform users about the practices taking place on platforms, practices that initially might be invisible to users. If this caught your attention, feel free to read my dissertation.
